This is Farez's Audio Blog, a newsletter/blog about Crypto, NFTs & Web3: The New Internet.
So I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a podcast since November of 2020 when a couple of my best friends decided to chat about a particular topic and start a podcast so we could keep in touch with each other as the pandemic surged on and it became clear that it would be hard to keep up in real life.
One of my friends lives in Toronto and the other in Vancouver, Canada while I’m based in Seattle. We tried filming (months later in Spring 2021) an episode once I got my PC setup.
We never got around to making something regular out of it but this kept bugging me in the back of my mind. We may make it a regular thing, but that was before I realized how difficult wrangling 3 schedules is, especially on a Zoom call with three different video and microphone setups. Tools like Substack and Anchor.fm make it super easy to create audio content. So I’ll start simple and just do audio for now.
An audio blog is exactly that, narration of written content in podcast form. Podcasts are really just an audio RSS feed so this shouldn’t feel too different. Except, you’re more likely to be able to listen to something, rather than read it as audio is portable and many people are starting to return to work in a hybrid manner at least.
Which means commutes are back. So since a lot of us were stuck in our homes for the past 2 years glued to our phones and TVs, we may be inclined to go out more.
And while you’re out, you can listen to audio blogs while still engaging with the world visually.
Hence audio blogs.
I will launch a daily audio product soon. Like a mish mash of me narrating my blog post and/or me chatting about current events in crypto, web3, software engineering or tech news in general.
Please subscribe and stay tuned!
